The last two weeks Alicia and I have been on an amazing East Coast flower adventure/ vacation. We started in Pennsylvania at the Philadelphia International Flower Show. This was my first time attending the show and was amazed at the scale of this event. There was so much to take in, from the first step in the convention show room you are hit with the scent of hyacinth, lilies, and a huge floral display. The theme this year was Hawaii and the floral display at the entrance was a huge structure that you walked into covered in white tropical flowers and had moving projections on several screens that gave the illusion that you were underwater. Then we started wondering and spent two days covering all 33 acres of the show. We took nearly 1000 photos of all the wonderful eye candy.
Then we made our way to NYC to meet up with 40 other wedding professionals, mostly floral designers, at the Chapel Designers Conference. This gathering of like minded designers was possibly one of the most inspiring, moving, and educational experiences of my life. We spent four days sharing successes and failures, meeting some of the best event and floral designers in the industry, touring the flower district, design classes and visiting Martha Stewart’s corporate offices. I had the opportunity to spend time with two of my favorite flower friends, Alicia and Robyn, which was truly amazing. I learned so much about myself as a designer and the direction I want to take my career. I was reminded why I love this industry and how deep my passion for flowers runs.
Alicia and will be sharing the photos and stories from our trip over the next couple weeks. Please make sure you check it out!
Have a wonderful Monday!
