If you happen to be in the Seattle, Washington area this coming week — The Seattle Wholesale Growers Market is turning FIVE this Wednesday! Come celebrate!
5th Anniversary Celebration – Wednesday April 20th, 9:00 – 10:30 am

Also, if you are in Washington .. this coming weekend will probably be that last good weekend to see the tulips in bloom in Skagit Valley. I went to visit the fields yesterday, and while still beautiful and enjoyable the tulips are nearing their end … so if you plan to see them this year be sure to see them soon!!

Wedding Wednesday :: Bash & Bloom + Botanique

My friend Eleanor of Bash & Bloom sent in photos from her wedding for my Florists and their Bridal Bouquets request. When I looked through the photos what I saw is a visual story that I think you’d all really enjoy. You see, Eleanor is a floral designer here in Seattle and when she got married last year she asked fellow Seattle designer Kelly Sullivan of Botanique to create her bridal bouquet. I just love seeing the emotion shared between these two sweet floral designers!

Wedding Inspiration

Thought I’d share one of my recent weddings with all of you as I tried out a few new-to-me rose varieties which you might find interesting. I’m completely smitten with Salma by Nevado Roses. It is a great rose to go with David Austin Juliet Roses. Also, with this wedding I tried out Peterkort’s Wendy rose, usually I favor the Moonstruck variety.

Bella Fiori, Washington, Bridal bouquet with Juliet garden roses, polo roses, milky way roses, Salma roses, pieris japonica, dusty miller, sedum, scabiosa pods, eucalyptus.

Salma by Nevado Roses is the Peach Rose.
Milky Way rose by GreenRose is the bottom one, just like Vendela Rose. I did hear a rumor that it is the same rose with a new name?

Salma Rose by Nevado and Juliet Garden Roses - peach roses

Top and top right is David Austin Juliet garden rose. The bottom two roses are Salma by Nevado roses. I love how these two roses work together, the Salma is quite large and takes up more space in designs.

Field to Vase Dinner, Washington

I’ve been hearing about the Field to Vase Dinner Tour all summer long and have been waiting anxiously for it to come to Washington! On September 12 the day finally came and the lovely dinner took place at Jello Mold Farms in Skagit Valley.

What an evening it was; perfect weather, the amazing evening light seemed to cast a spell over the farm, the floral centerpieces were met with oohs & aahs, the wine flowed, the food was passed, the conversation filled the evening air.

Terra Bella Floral Design

I am completely smitten with this design by Melissa of Terra Bella Floral Design! Somehow Melissa designed this on top of the pitchforks without the use of floral foam! I didn’t get the chance to ask Melissa how she did it, maybe she used Floral Soil??

I really appreciated Saipua’s latest blog post about life and how it goes up and down, and the story of the sweet little sheep named Vitamin B.

In other news …

My friend, Janet of Floral Verde, was in town. Janet is one of my favorite floral designers and has been for many years. Her style is garden, intricate, clean, yet textured – it’s just a perfect mix. We had a great time together visiting nurseries, visiting Seattle Wholesale Growers Market, making bouquets and photographing them. We have the same camera so it’s good to work together on settings and experimenting with light. Here’s a bit of our fun –
