Aalsmeer Flower Auction in Holland

Thought I’d share one of my favorite personal designs of the week – all flowers sourced at Seattle Wholesale Growers Market
Bella Fiori, Rustic Urn filled with gold garden roses, burgundy dahlias, red astilbe, purple sweetpeas

Parting shots of Holland

Can you tell I absolutely loved Holland?? Loved it. I’d go back in a heart-beat. I’m sure I missed a lot!!
Visiting Aalsmeer, Keukenhof, the floating garden and just walking the streets of Amsterdam was just a flower lover’s dream.

One last thing we came across was the Tulip Museum. They actually had a lovely display of Amaryllis while we were there, here are some photos:

Green Amaryllis

Red Amaryllis

Next week I’ll share photos from Paris… ah, Paris!

Good luck to all of you working on floral designs for Mother’s Day, I hope you have a successful holiday!!

Daffodil Fields in Holland

The scene I’ve been dreaming of seeing in person.. fields in full bloom and being harvested:

Fritillaria is my newest flower obsession, the delicate checkered blooms are so unique. I saw quite a few around Holland.

Fritillaria meleagris

Fritillaria assyriaca

Fritillaria meleagris alba

Display gardens of Keukenhof Gardens

Throughout Keukenhof Gardens there are display gardens. Various floral designers and landscape designers are invited to design a space. So cool to see what designers came up with:

The wall inside on display, so cute

This designer used phone line cables to create a divider wall

A display of yellow pitchers filled with daisies

The next display space was so colorful. Here she used bags on the fences and filled them with tulips.

I would love to ride around town on one of these bikes

Oh, how I'd love to have this greenhouse in my yard!!

Hyacinths, Lilacs & Hydrangeas of Keukenhof Gardens

More gorgeousness from Keukenhof Gardens!

Gorgeous Hyacinths:

And my favorite.. lilac! Oh so many lilacs…

Amaryllis of Keukenhof Gardens

I have a growing appreciation for Amaryllis. I’ve always liked them but definitely have thought of them only in December and in time for the holidays. I’ve been realizing lately that they are quite often used in European floral designs and the amount of varieties is impressive. Check out these lovelies:

Tomorrow, a look at hyacinth, hydrangea and lilacs..
