Christian Tortu Returns to FlowerSchool of New York!!!

The Christian Tortu Process: Beginning early on Wednesday, October 17th, in an extremely rare opportunity, Christian Tortu will introduce seven FlowerSchool New York students to his personal floral process and method. Class will begin at the 28th Street Flower Market where students will learn what type of flowers is Christian is drawn to, how he selects flowers and what type of design decisions are made. Following the market we will break for lunch and reconvene at FlowerSchool to create the design that was conceptualized by Christian at the market. This is a truly unique opportunity to be a part of the design process and see how it is done by one of the world’s most famous florists. Students will be arranging in Christian Toru’s new line of vessels, which they will be able to take home with them.

Wednesday, October 17th 9:00am – 3:30pm

“The Color Revolution”: A pioneer in color innovation, Christian was one of the first florists to bend the rules of design by rediscovering forgotten colors including traditionally unworthy hues of beiges, whites, grays and blacks. Creating what was thought as “unseemly combinations” Christian is inspired by the entire color spectrum, taking cues from the world around him. From a wild garden to the throngs of city life, “Christian discovered new combinations and chromatic palettes.”

Thursday, October 18th & Friday, October 19th from 10:30am – 12:30am

“The Form Revolution”: Tortu’s Round Bouquet exists in the space between a formal, presentation bouquet and a natural and loose amateur bouquet. The Round Bouquet is the essence of design, versatile to many containers, places and people, but is equally specific in shape and form. This is your opportunity to learn how to construct Christian’s iconic and extremely sought after “La Parisienne” design, as seen in a demonstration at FSNY in June.

Thursday, October 18th & Friday, October 19th from 3:30am – 5:30pm.
